PARENTING PHILOSOPHY

Our parenting philosophy is very simple: lead by example.

WE WILL:

- Demonstrate proper behaviors

- Discuss poor choices

- Listen to our child's perspective

- Be strict, but loving

- Set boundaries

- Encourage freedom

WE WILL NOT:

- Use "time out"

- Withhold love & affection

- Strike/hit our child

- Yell or scream

It is our belief that a child's behavior mimics that of their parents or due to some need not being met. Leading by example is one of the most important ways to prevent having to discipline in the first place.

If there is unacceptable behavior then it will be addressed. We will always explain to our child what they did wrong, why it is wrong, and how their behavior is negatively impacted themselves or someone else.

Examples of punishment that may be utilized as the child ages would include reducing time on electronics, forgo getting a toy/treat, additional chores, etc.

What we want to emphasize the most is that we do not believe in yelling, screaming, belittling, or striking children. A good parent would never resort to these tactics to parent a child. Loving, nurturing, paying attention to, and leading by example is what your child will experience with us!
